Description

A wonderful introduction to the wide range of Indian black teas. Each sample makes about 8-10 cups of tea. This set includes (though subject to change without notification):

assam melody - Classic black tea from Assam, India. Rich aroma, starchy sweetness of roasted plantains, notes of molasses and dates in the flavor. Rounded mouthfeel and pleasantly malty. Brisk astringency without being extremely pungent. From Meleng Tea Estate.
ceylon sonata - Classic black tea from Sri Lanka (formerly known as Ceylon). Lively, tangy offering from Kenilworth Estate. Fresh, citrusy aroma, sweet juicy notes of mandarin peel or grapefruit, refreshing texture and balanced astringency. Perfect afternoon tea.
darjeeling sungma summer (#22) - Darjeeling tea is beloved for its golden liquor and muscat flavor (a type of grape). This summer tea from Sungma Estate shows bright aromatics, floral white grape notes, with warm spice and sugary squash. Plush, tangy mouthfeel, sweet finish.
irish breakfast - A hearty blend of black teas from India and Sri Lanka to get your morning off to a bright start. Spicy and jammy aroma.

"Overall, this was a nice sampler. The Darjeeling stood out as the boldest of the four, with very deep flavor and richness. The Irish Breakfast was also a nicely balanced tea with pleasant amounts of both maltiness and smokiness. The Ceylon Sonata was nice and refreshing, but I found that it lacked the complexity of the aforementioned two. Finally, I thought that the Assam Melody was quite boring and indistinguishable from a cheap supermarket black tea. Overall, I'd recommend this sampler though. It's a nice introduction to these Indian teas."

"Out of these I really liked the darjeeling sungma summer and the irish breakfast both of them stood out from the other two. "

"I got this for my partner for the holidays, but ended up giving it to him early because he was running low on black tea. The Darjeeling was - in my mind at least - the clear winner here."

"This sampler is an excellent introduction to black teas. I'm glad I bought it before buying lots of other teas, as this sampler allowed me to discover my tastes in an area I had little prior experience with."
