Darjeeling #22

Description

Black tea from the Darjeeling region of India. Darjeeling tea is treasured for the rich golden liquor and unique muscatel flavor. This tea scores high on both counts. Our "Darjeeling Rhapsody no. 22" is a superb second-flush (summer) tea from the highly regarded Risheehat estate. An excellent introduction to this wonderful variety.

Story

Darjeeling is a town situated along the slopes of the beautiful Himalayas, 7,000 feet above sea level. It, and the tea plantations that stretch around it, are often enveloped in mist. This unique climate, and the region's loamy soil, combine to produce arguably the most prized tea in the world. But there's a downside to this fame: each year more tea is sold under the name of Darjeeling than can possibly be produced. Most of the imposters hail from the nearly Nepal, which shares some of Darjeeling's characteristics but rarely measure up to the original.

"This is a wonderful tea to enjoy and sip with just a tsp of honey! It is perfect at 3 min steeped. I am very pleased with this one! Not as strong at the Red Dragon blend but it is perfect for evening and to serve to a guest who is not use to drinking leaf steeped teas... I will definitely reorder this one!"

"Ah ha! Now I know what tea not to buy. I have tasted darjeeling teas before and not liked them, but didn't know what they were called. Now that I know, I will steer clear of them. I'm sure this is just fine, if you like darjeeling, but I do not."

"This tea quickly won me over. It's flavor is lighter and a touch malty."

"This is one of my favorite black teas. I love to use this for iced tea. You can over steep it a little and it's fine."
