Description

Masala chai spices in a South African red rooibos base with a hint of vanilla. These spices will dance on your palate while the creamy vanilla rooibos will sing to your soul. Naturally caffeine free for an anytime treat.

We suggest two heaping teaspoons per 6 oz cup, boiling water for 7-10 minutes. Sugar, cream or soy if desired.

Story

Historically, tea in India was viewed as an herbal medicine, rather than as a beverage for taste. Some chai spice blends still in current use are derived from Ayurvedic medical texts. Popular spices include anise, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, peppercorn and ginger. Traditional preparation actually calls for the spices, milk and leaves to be simmered over sustained heat, rather than steeped in preheated water (like regular tea). In India, chai is served in little clay cups from chai carts. After enjoying your tea, the cups are shattered on the ground and allowed to compost - an earth-friendly alternative to the paper and plastic cups popular in the U.S.

"We love rooibos tea and this did not disappoint. When you want a yummy spice without caffine or to try a new rooibos flavor try this one. My only complaint...not vanilla enough but then again maybe cream or milk would bring that flavor out. "

"Love the blend, but hate the new packaging. The tins were elegant and easy to stack. You have to hide the pouches because they are ugly and its difficult to put them anywhere but tossed into a drawer. "
