Casablanca Twist

Description

An interesting twist on the old Moroccan Mint tea, which traditionally combines Gunpowder tea from China with fresh peppermint. We kept the latter, and replaced the smoky notes of Gunpowder with the muscatel highlights of a First Flush Darjeeling from India. The result is fresher, smoother and - we hope you'll agree - a nice improvement on the original.

Story

Gunpowder is the favorite green tea of Morocco, where it is commonly prepared with lots of fresh mint and plenty of sugar (Moroccan Mint tea). This delightful beverage is enjoyed several times a day. Local custom dictates that the tea be poured in such a way as to create a sizable foam atop one's glass (you need a distance of about 12 inches to do this). Small, ornately gilded glasses are customary, and traditionally, so much sugar is used, you can see it settle in the cup.

"I really enjoy the Casablanca Twist. The name made me a tad bit skeptical at first but I decided to give it a try anyway. So once it shipped, I opened the little bag. I was already a fan of minty green teas at the time so I was instantly pleased by the nice minty smell. Once I brewed it, the taste of this refreshing tea complimented the scent really well. Then I decided to add sugar and I fell in love. The minty aspect of this tea goes really well with a slight sweetener and now I'm truly excited to make an Iced Tea out of this tea."

"I'm new to loose leaf tea and I have tried a few teas from Adagio, but Casablanca Twist is by far the most delicious tea yet. The smell of the tea in the package is wonderful, and the tea itself is smooth with a moderate peppermint flavor. I know this tea is not chocolate, but it almost reminds me of Andes mint chocolate candy. I would absolutely purchase again!"
