Description

A wonderful introduction to the wide range of Chinese green teas. Each sample makes about 8-10 cups of tea. This set includes (though subject to change without notification):

green pekoe - Green tea from Fujian, China. In professional terms, 'pekoe' is a grade of tea; the size of the leaf. Our Green Pekoe is a lovely tea for any day: pale liquor, pleasant aroma of fresh artichokes or okra. Slightly toasty, balanced astringency.
gunpowder - A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.
white monkey - Green tea from the slopes of the Taimu Mountains in Fujian, China. The delicate, unopened buds appear perfectly white against the young, opened green leaves. Warm colored liquor with a fresh, almost wildflower sweet scent and slightly dry finish.
jasmine chun hao (#5) - A classic jasmine tea from Fujian, China, infused with the delicate scent of night-blooming jasmine flowers. Sweet perfumy cup, notes of warmed sugar, slightly toasty like a fresh biscuit. Light, refreshing and not overwhelmingly floral.

"A wonderful introduction to green teas and a good choice of contrasting flavors to choose from. Gunpowder and Green Pekoe were my personal favorites."

"Ordering this sampler was the perfect way for me to begin to understand which varieties of green tea I prefer. The gunpowder and white monkey have been gone for weeks while there are still a few cups of the jasmine and green pekoe waiting to be steeped. I thought this sampler pack was a great value for the amount of tea included."

"This was the first sampler I came across that just wasn't my cup of tea. While I do like green tea, I'm finding that I prefer to mix it with fruit based teas so it isn't as bitter tasting to my personal taste buds."

"I enjoyed most of the teas in this sampler. Gunpowder and green pekoe are good 'generic' green teas that are very versatile and can be enjoyed in many ways. I did not enjoy the jasmine tea. Then again, jasmine isn't a favorite scent of mine and tends to give me headaches. I did give it to a friend who enjoyed it."
