White Darjeeling

Description

White tea from the Darjeeling region of India. A rare treat from the Avongrove estate, nestled along the picturesque slopes of the Himalayas. Similar in appearance to the justly-revered Silver Needle tea of China, the Darjeeling version is equally sublime. Comprised solely of the tender unopened buds gathered in the second flush of early summer, this is an outstanding tea that fuses the gentle sweetness of white with a boisterous touch of muscatel. We promise, your taste buds will be singing.

Story

Darjeeling is a town situated along the slopes of the beautiful, towering Himalayas. The town, and the tea plantations that stretch around it, are often enveloped in mist. This unique climate, along with the region's loamy soil, help produce one of the most unique and distinctive teas in the world. These altitudes place significant strain on the bushes, so they grow more slowly and have more time to develop flavor. No one else in the world has tea that tastes quite like authentic Darjeeling.

"This was a very lightly flavored tea for me. I was surprised to see the extremely long recommended brew time, but tried it out after steeping for a shorter time and it was definitely light. I rec'd a free sample with other purchase, so it was a good deal, but not my favorite white tea, nor my favorite Darjeeling."

"I'm not a huge fan of white teas in general, but this one works for me. It has a bit more character than many whites, which tend to sort of blend together for me."

"Very ununsual darjeeling! I really like it's subtle flavor and delicate aroma. Not for people who like strong tastes."
