Description

An exquisite version of the White Peony variety, a delicate tea made from tea buds collected and withered prior to opening. It offers a preponderance of unopened leaf buds that create a pale yellow, light bodied, yet complex cup with hints of honeydew and a faint floral sweetness. If you enjoy the soothing flavor of our 'White A' Cappella' tea, we invite you to savor this more refined version.

Story

Modern-day white teas can be traced to the 18th Century Qing Dynasty, a time when they were harvested from ordinary tea bushes. White teas differed from green teas in that their processing did not incorporate any steaming or pan-firing. The teas were simply shaped, and allowed to wither. The resulting leaves were thin, small and did not have much silvery-white hair. It wasn't until 1885 that specific varietals of tea bushes were selected to make white teas. The large, silvery-white leaves of the Silver Needle came into being in 1891. And the production of White Peony began around 1922.

"Not a bad tea at all. I'd certainly drink it. However, I wouldn't reach past the silver needle or white monkey for it. I'd call it a decent backup tea"

"My favorite afternoon tea. Not too strong and just what I need for a pick me up (or an excuse to get up from my desk)."

"This was good. Didnt do it for me like silver needle or some of the flavored whites, but it was decent. I would suggest buying a sample first."

"A very nice white tea with a pretty full flavor. I found that steeping at a slightly hotter temperature than normal for a white, and for a shorter time than normal brings out the nice flavors. However, don't steep too long, or it tends to get very bitter. When done correctly, it tastes very crisp with some nice floral notes. I would definitely buy it again. Great value for a white."

"Light flavor, very delicate, needs absolutely no sugar or sweetener. This and the Silver Needle are probably the two best white teas I've ever had!"

"A nice white tea. If you enjoyed white peony I'd give it a try. More pronounced flavor than silver needle but less than Peony."
