Description

A chance to broaden your discovery with the very best of green teas. Each sample makes about 8-10 cups of tea. This set includes (though subject to change without notification):

dragonwell - One of China's most famous teas, from Hangzhou in Zhejiang province. Distinctive flattened leaf shape gives the tea an inviting, toasty aroma. Sweet rounded flavor, like freshly roasted white corn. Nutty, buttery texture, pleasantly dry finish.
gyokuro - Steamed green tea from Japan. Gyokuro is among the finest of Japanese teas. Deeply sweet, aroma of freshly buttered greens - no grassiness or harshness. Soft on the palate with a balanced, delicate finish. Soothing and centering cup of tea.
pi lo chun - Green tea from Jiangsu, China. Made from the finest tender buds, hand-plucked and rolled. Perfumy and sweet floral, with a full body and slightly earthy and savory quality. Lingering, aromatic finish and delicate floral-smoky note.
anji duet - Spring tea from Anji in Zhejiang, China. A delicate cup with soft fruit notes like a fine white tea, as well as chestnut sweetness, sugarsnap peas and lingering floral finish of a classic green. Sweet and mellow with soft, pleasantly dry finish.

"either love or hate with these teas. anji duet and gyokuro were pleasant but pi lochun and dragonwell were horrible..they both smelled like wet dog and dirt and tasted like burnt wood. i will not be ordering any green teas..seems im just not a green tea person."

"For starting out with green tea this was a great selection, just didn't find anything we loved."

"I really enjoyed gyokuro with its vegetable taste. It was smoother and less bitter than sencha overture. Unfortunately, it came in the smaller 0.5oz pack. Temperature for it is 170F. The other teas (dragonwell, pi lo chun, and dongshan dolce) were good, but they didn't stand out for me."

"I felt this was a great variety with dongshan dolce being my favorite. Make sure to steep them at 180 (maybe lower for gyokuro) because they all tend to get bitter fast if you steep them too hot."

"Great set to get started with. Women that I've come across tend to enjoy black tea more. That's what I discovered especially with yunnan gold. Try it."

"I really enjoyed all of the teas in this pack, but the tea that made it most worthwhile was the Dragonwell. I may order the other teas separately, but I'll definitely be getting Dragonwell again."
