Description

Green tea from the Fujian province of China. Green Pekoe is famed as an everyday tea, and is among the most popular teas consumed in China. Its thin, wavy leaves appear almost black when dry. Once infused, however, our 'Green Pekoe Blues' reveals its true color. And produces a light cup with a smooth, mellow taste and a gentle, soothing aroma.

Story

There are generally three popular explanations given for the meaning of 'Orange' in Orange Pekoe, none of them definitive. Possibly the most popular explanation is that it refers to the Dutch noble House of Orange-Nassau, the Dutch having had a central role in bringing tea to Europe. A second explanation is that it refers to a supposed Chinese practice of using orange blossoms to flavor tea. (In reality it's more customary to use jasmine blossoms). Finally, a third explanation is that it refers to the color of the leaves when they are harvested, which is incorrect.

"I really lucked out with the greens I sampled my last order. This was a really great tea. Very nice and floral with a hint of vegetal taste which made things interesting. "

"I'm personally a fan of every Chinese green tea I've ever tried, this one being no exception. This is very much the 'quintessential' Chinese green tea. It has a moderately strong flavor and is fairly forgiving to brew, not finicky like Japanese green tea. "

"Love this tea for during the day or at night with dinner. It makes a nice change from a jasmine green or white tea."

"Non-descript and boring. Is there anything notable about this tea whatsoever? Why would one drink this tea when there are other wonderful green teas out there? Waste of time and money. "

"I bought this because believe it or not I missed the taste of tea with lemon. This one was pekoe so I thought maybe it would be like Orange Pekoe, so I thought I would try it. It didn't work but it was nice an occasional tea."
