Description

Silky sweet coconut and playful bright lemongrass highlight this seductive black tea chai blend. Let the aroma draw you in and you'll swear you hear it beckoning... come closer, just take a sip.

We suggest two heaping teaspoons per 6 oz up, boiling water for 5 minutes, Sugar, cream or coconut milk if desired.

Story

Historically, tea in India was viewed as an herbal medicine, rather than as a beverage for taste. Some chai spice blends still in current use are derived from Ayurvedic medical texts. Popular spices include anise, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, peppercorn and ginger. Traditional preparation actually calls for the spices, milk and leaves to be simmered over sustained heat, rather than steeped in preheated water (like regular tea). In India, chai is served in little clay cups from chai carts. After enjoying your tea, the cups are shattered on the ground and allowed to compost - an earth-friendly alternative to the paper and plastic cups popular in the U.S.

"Thai Chai is actually a great tea, don't be fooled by its amazingly strong coconut scent at the first whiff. Once it's brewed, the tea itself smells actually a bit milder and it tastes much like what you'd expect: like coconut and chai spices. It goes great with milk and sugar as well.Personally however, I do prefer regular chai to this as Thai Chai seems to give off the vibe that it needs something extra to sweeten it to complete the experience."

"Maybe it's just me, but this tea did not do it. I think that the lemongrass was what threw me off? Anyway, not my cup of tea. (har dee har)."

"Without a doubt, this is one of the best teas I have ever had. It smells like all of my favorite thai dishes, with a really intense lemongrass and ginger smell, but with subtle spicy notes like a chai. Truly fantastic!"

"There's some bitterness coming from the ceylon. The subsequent re-steeps didn't have any bitterness which I also experienced with plain ceylon. The lemon grass taste is certainly there. There's a faint hint of the spices, but not as much as I hoping. I was going to get masala chai, but it was out of stock. Hopefully that one has more of a spice taste to it that I was looking for."

"This Chai looked and tasted great. The flavors sat really well together (sometimes Chai has an overpowering peppery taste). I'm also not a huge fan of coconut flavors in tea (or coffee), but it really worked well in this chai. I imagine this would be delicious with milk and honey. "
