Ingredients & Lore
blended with black tea, apple pieces, natural passionfruit flavor and marigold flowers
There are two types of this tangy fruit available: a bright yellow variety and purple. Native to Brazil, passionfruits are grown in many places, including South America, Hawaii, Indonesia and New Zealand. It's one of the most important fruits in Colombia, especially for juices and desserts. The name 'passionfruit' came from the diaries of early Spanish missionaries, who thought the flower and fruit bore significant religious connections. Passionfruit can seem a little awkward to eat (the thick skin somewhat resembles an avocado). If you let the skin wrinkle for a few days, though, the sugar levels and flavor will increase, and it will also be easier to cut the fruit in half and scoop out the goodness inside.
