Sweet Potato Pie

Description

A long time traditional Southern U.S. favorite, but a stranger to the tea world, our sweet potato pie tea is bound to become a new star. A hint of toasted marshmallow makes this tea surprisingly decadent.

Story

The sweet potato is actually related to morning glories, but only a distant cousin of regular potatoes. This tuberous root can have red, purple, brown or white skin. While sweet potatoes have enjoyed a long and celebrated history here in the United States, they've also been an important part of food culture in China, Japan, Indonesia, India and Africa. Sweet potato pies date back to the mid-1800's; candied sweet potatoes slathered in fluffy marshmallows didn't come along until around 1920.

"This is the best tea. Mild sweet potato taste. Really good with cream and sugar."

"Can really taste the sweet potato in this, and yet, not my cup of tea :/ It's ok, very earthy, and definitely tastes like sweet potato, I guess just not what I was expecting. Not the first tea I'd pick in my cabinet."

"Nice sweet taste. The 'potato' taste is not overpowering. Good with dessert."

"Not bad, but it didn't taste much like sweet potato pie to me. Still good with a little sugar and cream. Not sure if I would order again yet."

"The scent reminded me of childhood chewable vitamins. At least the taste didn't match the smell, but I still wouldn't call it sweet potato pie by any stretch."

"I like this, but am not totally sold on it yet. It's enjoyable--I'm glad I bought it--but it's also a little weird to drink. The tea is sweet with pie spices, but is more vegetal than I expected it to be."
